Viral Overwatch Clip Shows Insanely Lucky Reinhardt Play

Overwatch fans are always showing off their most impressive plays, and with the game’s player base being so massive, there have been no shortage of memorable moments shared online. However, one Overwatch fan has showed off a crazy play that happened by complete accident.

The play in question sees Reinhardt countering the Overwatch hero Junkrat. The character has always been divisive, as he can be incredibly useful or useless depending on whether heroes like Zarya are on the other team. Regardless, one thing that virtually any team fears is Junkrat’s Rip-Tire, as it can be devastating in the hands of inexperienced players and veterans alike. The Ultimate ability can wipe out an entire team if used correctly, and though it can be destroyed before it gets the chance to explode, that is a tough feat if the Rip-Tire is deployable from a clever angle.

In the case of the Junkrat player facing off against Reddit user Le_Cid, they did everything that they could have possibly done to deploy their Rip-Tire in a smart way. Part of the defending team on the Hollywood map, the Junkrat flanks all the way around behind the payload and enemy team. While this would normally be a safer way to use the Ultimate, and a move that would likely guarantee more kills, the Junkrat goes above and beyond. They have a Symettra player come with them, sending the Rip-Tire straight through her teleporter.

Despite this clever deployment method, though, the Overwatch player finds their tire getting no kills. In fact, they do not even get to detonate the Rip-Tire, as it is destroyed as soon as it passes through the teleporter. While it is hard to tell what happened from the Junkrat’s point of view, as it looks more like a bug than anything else, the Reinhardt's perspective is also showcased. After using Rein’s Earthshatter Ultimate and snagging a few kills, the Reinhardt swings their hammer to destroy Symmetra’s teleporter.

The Reinhardt fan could not have picked a better time to attack it, as they manage to hit the Rip-Tire just as it comes through the teleporter. While Rein players are able to destroy the tire with a Fire Strike from time to time, doing it with a hammer is incredibly rare. As mentioned by Le_Cid in the post’s title, the play was a complete accident and there was no degree of skill required. However, given the fact that it saved the player’s team from being wiped out, it is an impressive play regardless.

With Reinhardt getting a rework in Overwatch 2, Le_Cid could prove even more dangerous to play against in the sequel. Not only would the player have more fire strikes and a cancellable pin at their disposal, but they clearly already have a lot of luck on their side.

Overwatch is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
