Viral Video Shows People Playing Wii Bowling In Real Life

At one point, Wii Sports was one of the most popular games around the world. The Wii was a revolutionary hit, while Wii Sports and its simplistic nature offered fun that could be had by all. Viewed by some as one of the best console launch games of all time, Wii Sports gave boxing, bowling, golf, baseball, and tennis goodness to millions; but it has also produced countless memes.

Wii Sports has provided countless laughs in living rooms and even nursing rooms around the world thanks to its entertaining gameplay, and bowling may be the most popular on the list in terms of multiplayer enjoyment. Recently, a TikTok user uploaded a video showing off what Wii Sports bowling would look like if it was played in real life. Though Wii Sports is nearly fifteen years old, the comedy still holds up today.

At first blush, the idea of what Wii Sports bowling would look like in real life might make some think about just real bowling. The bowling game was beloved because it was about as one-to-one to the real version of bowling that a game could get in terms of gameplay. However, the video from @lucalom is actually a rendition of what happened in Wii Sports bowling when someone accidentally tossed the ball behind them.

In the video, the player sets themself to roll the bowling ball down the real-life alley. However, instead of doing so, they let go of the ball when their arm is behind them and the bowling ball lands back where a group of over a dozen audience members are standing by. In this case, they are startled by the ball, jump in the air, and spin around all as an audible gasping sound is played; this is exactly what happens in Wii Sports when someone accidentally throws the ball behind them.

Wii Sports is a game that focuses on fun over anything else, and that is part of what helped the game catch on. The idea that anyone could pick up the game and easily swing a tennis racket or roll a bowling ball with very little knowledge of gaming was the other aspect that helped it succeed. Either way, it is entertaining to see Wii Sports in "real-life" through a video like this.

Many believe that Wii Sports should make its way to the Switch. Whether with updated controls or simply using the motion-controlled Joy-Cons, the Switch seems to be a solid fit. Perhaps it will one day come to pass, whether as an updated brand new game or as a return to the classic title. For now, though, fans can always look to the original game or the memes it has inspired for entertainment.

Wii Sports is available for the Nintendo Wii.
