Warzone Cheaters Are Coming To Consoles

Console players are starting to worry that online cheating is about to become more prevalent as tech that uses machine learning becomes more popular.

Despite the best efforts of various studios, cheaters in online games will never be completely eradicated. Warzone, in particular, is plagued with cheaters, regardless of how many accounts Raven Software continues to clear out. Until now, most of those cheaters are confined to PC play. However, that might well be about to change.

That's thanks to new tech that uses machine learning and can seemingly be used by console players. Its promo video, which has been shared by Twitter account Anti-Cheat Police Department, shows the cheat software in action and boasts the ability to use it across multiple platforms. Not just PC, but PlayStation and Xbox too.

Call of Duty players are particularly worried. Not just because Raven is fighting a losing battle against Warzone's cheaters, but also because the video used to showcase the software in action shows nothing but footage from Call of Duty. Not a good sign. The ACPD also claims the software is already being used in the wild, but will likely become more popular in the coming weeks and months.

Even though this new cheat software can be used on consoles, there is a silver lining. According to Eurogamer, those who want to use it will still need a PC in order to do so. A capture card sends your gameplay to a PC, and it's on the PC that the cheat tech is applied. The machine learning reacts to what is happening and issues inputs as a result. Still, anyone with a capture card and a PC will seemingly be able to make use of it on a console should they choose to do so.

Until now, console players have been able to turn off crossplay to avoid encountering PC cheaters. Now that the issue is spilling over onto console, there may be no avoiding them. Warzone devs will have a problem on their hands should the software be used by more and more people going forward. It has already banned more than half a million cheaters. The addition of console cheaters into the mix may increase that total exponentially.
