The promotions for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings have been in full swing for over a month now. Marvel Studios has released multiple trailers, exclusive clips, and featurettes to offer fans an insight into the highly-anticipated flick. Just before the film premiered in theaters, the studio released a fun video of star Awkwafina taking viewers on a tour of the film’s sets.
Titled “Behind the wheel with Awkwafina,” the two-minute video has the actor, who portrays the role of Katy in Marvel Studios' Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, drive around the film’s rather large backlot in a golf cart. Along the way, she offers a ride to some of the leading actors of the film and has a fun conversation about the movie and their personal bond.

The video is quite relevant since Awkwafina’s character in the film is initially shown to be a valet at a hotel, and fans have already gotten to see her driving skills at play in some of the footage released from Shang-Chi. In the new video released by Marvel, she is seen joking about how she will be harassing some of the other cast members because she is a “professional schmoozer,” and that’s exactly what she does.
The first person on her list is Simu Liu, who plays the role of the titular character Shang-Chi. The two seem to have a great bond, something Liu has spoken about previously, confirming that he found it easiest to shoot his scenes with Awkwafina. In the video, Liu talks about how he loves being on set with her, as well, because they have “such natural chemistry.” They are like two best friends bickering over something really small. Awkwafina also played a role in Liu's selection as Shang-Chi.
Awkwafina then goes on to meet Florian Munteanu, who plays Razor Fist in Shang-Chi, and actress Meng'er Zhang, who portrays the role of Xialing. However, her most entertaining conversation is with Tony Leung, who plays Wenwu, as he doesn’t seem very sure of Awkwafina’s driving skills. He does talk about how this is his first time working with an American team, and how they’re “very nice.” The award-winning actor is considered to be one of Asia’s best performers and has worked in several films before he was cast in Shang-Chi.
Awkwafina’s golf cart tour ends with her joking about how she has a “license to kill,” when Munteanu asks her about driving around the set. It seems like the cast had a great time shooting for Shang-Chi, and it remains to be seen how much of that camaraderie will reflect in their on-screen relationships.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is now playing in theaters.
