Fortnite Season 4 has arrived, bringing a host of new additions to Epic’s smash-hit Battle Royale. The new Season has a distinctly Marvel flavor, with plenty of items, powers, and weapons based on the popular superhero franchise. There’s also a new NPC Boss, Doctor Doom, for Fortnite‘s players to battle against.
Bosses are tough NPC enemies that drop powerful loot or vault keys when defeated, and were first introduced to Fortnite at the beginning of Chapter Two. It’s likely that more Marvel-themed Bosses will find their way into the game as Season 4 progresses, but for now Doctor Doom is the only one. While this does mean that competition to be the first to defeat him will be high, the mythic weapons he drops are more than worth the risk.

Players hoping to take on Victor Von Doom will find him at the imaginatively-named Doom’s Domain POI, in the north-west of the map. This location was formerly known as Pleasant Park, and was one of the oldest POIs on the Fortnite map. The good Doctor has built his base on the soccer pitch, and populated it with plenty of henchman.
Dropping directly onto Doom’s base is a surprisingly viable strategy, as his henchman aren’t ready for an attack from above. The weapons they carry are also very effective against Doom himself, allowing a clever player to take him down with his own firepower. Doom has around 450 health, and will fight back with energy blasts and a powerful ball attack.
Defeating Doctor Doom will cause him to drop his two mythic weapons, which grant players his abilities. The first are Doom’s Arcane Gauntlets, which allow the wielder to throw explosive blasts of green energy from their hands. These blasts do around 35 damage in a small splash, and have a drop-off if fired at long range. The Gauntlets also grant the power of limited flight, being able to surge a little into the air if jump is pressed while falling.
The second mythic weapon is Doctor Doom’s Mystical Bomb, which allows players to use Doom’s powerful energy-ball attack. Using the Mystical Bomb will cause the player to prepare a glowing maelstrom of green energy over their head, which can be hurled like a grenade. The Bomb does a large amount of splash damage over a wide-area, making it a great weapon for dealing with entrenched enemies. While the Gauntlets can be fired indefinitely, the Bomb has a 20-second cool-down between attacks. As well as these two weapons, Doctor Doom also drops the key for his vault, which can be found at the back of the room.
Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and Android, with PS5 and Xbox Series X support planned for later this year.
