If you've been playing Stardew Valley for a while now, you know that the game keeps getting new awesome and free updates. With update 1.5 came a lot of new features as always. Even a new type of ore was added to the game and this one's extra rare. It's called Radioactive Ore and there are only two ways of getting it. However, one of these methods is certainly more efficient than the other.

Collecting Radioactive Ore is useful because it allows you to craft Hyper Speed-Gro, which increases crop growth rate by at least 33 percent, and Magic Bait, which makes it possible to catch any fish regardless of season, time of day, and weather. And, if you turn the ore into Radioactive Bars, you can craft a Heavy Tapper or a Hopper or even make Radioactive Goggles with the Sewing Machine. If you manage to collect and smelt ten Radioactive Bars you can trade them for a Galaxy Soul at the Island Trader.

Ways To Get Radioactive Ore

There are only two ways to get Radioactive Ore in Stardew Valley. You can either get it in the Skull Cavern or in The Mines but you can't simply start exploring these places and hope you stumble upon some Radioactive Nodes. There are specific things you need to do in order for this to happen.

Skull Cavern

Once you have access to Mr. Qi's Special Orders you will be able to select two quests each Monday. One of the quests is named Skull Cavern Invasion and this quest makes it so powerful monsters take over the cavern so it's even harder to reach level 100. During this time, it is possible to find Radioactive Nodes in the Skull Cavern. However, the rate at which you'll find them is much lower than compared to the mines. Some people have reported that they've found only one node or none at all while doing this quest.

The Mines

For you to be able to find Radioactive Nodes in the mines you have to visit Qi's Walnut Room and complete the Dangers In The Deep quest. This will grant you access to The Shrine of Challenge. If you're not how to do this, we have a guide that will certainly help you through the process.

Then, simply head to floor 120 of the mines and activate the shrine. The effect will only last a day, so if you're planning to farm for a few days then don't forget to come back and activate it each time. Once the shrine has been activated, the mines' difficulty level will be set to dangerous and Radioactive Nodes will spawn so you can break them for their ore. It seems that the levels that provided players with the most success were levels 30 to 35 and 40 to 45. It's quite simple to farm, just don't forget to bring some food in case you need to heal.
