Will the Air Bender Begin This Fall?

Get your penguins ready for some sledding, as the Netflix series based on the critically acclaimed show, Avatar: The Last Airbender, is rumored to begin filming towards the end of this year.

Ever since Netflix announced in September 2018 that pre-production had begun for the supernatural show, the series has been surrounded by controversy, including co-creators of the original animated series – Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko – exiting in August 2020 after expressing creative differences with Netflix. Sleepy Hollow’s executive producer, Albert Kim, was brought on as showrunner six months after their departure. Outside of this, Netflix has also not provided much more in the way of updates pertaining to the remake, leaving anticipated fans to piece together what they can from industry insiders and the like.

One such source is Hollywood North, an industry blog that writes and photographs television and movie location shoots in the Vancouver area. They recently reported that principal filming for the element defying series will begin November 16 and end May 17, 2022. The blog also anticipates that the working title for the series will be Trade Winds.

While this is currently just a rumor, it is the most information that has been given in months, so fans are excited that the beginning of the journey of the air-bending incarnation may be happening soon.

In other Netflix news, the highly anticipated series, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, will be released next month and you can look forward to playing mobile games in 2022 with no additional cost, if you are subscribed.
