Blizzard Entertainment has made changes to the options players have for purchasing game time to play World of Warcraft, their long-running but still popular MMORPG. They’ve removed 30 days of game time alongside all the other options – except the 60 day option.
The developer has removed the 30, 90, and 180 days of game time options. Blizzard was keen to point out that reoccurring monthly subscriptions remain unaffected – and that a monthly subscription is still the cheapest way to play the game, even cheaper than the 30 day option used to be.
World of Warcraft fansite WoWHead speculates this could have been done to help combat the infamous bots that still plague the MMORPG, where they would use WoW Tokens to pay for 30-day game passes. These can then then be used to pay for game time, but not for reoccurring subscriptions.
In related news, World of Warcraft’s latest expansion, Shadowlands, was released back in November of last year. The game’s vanilla-content spinoff World of Warcraft: Classic also confirmed they’ll curiously be offering a World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade expansion re-release of sorts.
