World Of Warcraft: Shadowlands – How To Rescue Laurent From The Ember Ward

As players work through the Venthyr campaign in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, they may receive indication that they need to rescue Laurent from the Ember Ward in order to continue. However, there is not a great deal of in-game instruction on how to perform this rescue, and indeed some fans may find themselves stuck on this step. It is with these players in mind that this guide is being written, and it should help them locate Laurent in World of Warcraft.

Updated August 2, 2021 by Mina Smith: Laurent's Rescue quest hasn't changed with all the new updates to Shadowlands, but some additional information was needed since this quest chain is so crucial to the Revendreth storyline and progression. If players choose this Covenant for their characters, they will absolutely need to finish this storyline. So this article has been updated to include additional information to make things a little easier for players looking to get this quest chain completed quickly. This article now has more info on the quest chain itself, ways to earn the Renown needed to start the chain, and other tidbits to help out.

Laurent can be found at coordinates 26, 49 in Revendreth, a location that is situated just to the southwest of Sinfall. Players can use a variety of AddOns to view these coordinates on the in-game map, and those that do should be able to find Laurent very easily. However, fans that prefer to forego the installation of any new AddOns can use the map below to learn the precise position of this Shadowlands NPC.

Upon finding Laurent at this location, World of Warcraft players should complete the quest chain that he has to offer. More specifically, the chain of interest is the one that makes up the Mirror Marker of the Master storyline, and it includes quests like An Unfortunate Situation and When Only Ash Remains. Indeed, after working through all of the tasks in this chain, fans should find that Laurent has returned to their Covenant Sanctums in Shadowlands, and they will able to continue the campaign from there. The quest chain includes:

  • An Unfortunate Situation
  • Foraging for Fragments
  • Moving Mirrors
  • Light Punishment
  • When Only Ash Remains
  • Escaping the Master
  • We Need More Power
  • Mirror Making, Not Breaking

To note, there are Renown requirements associated with accessing the last chapters in the Venthyr campaign, with the conclusion unlocking at Renown 22. While many players will already have obtained the requisite level of Renown before they are instructed to rescue Laurent from the Ember Ward, some fans may still need to rank up a bit. Fortunately, there are several ways to earn Renown in Shadowlands every week, and there are even catch-up mechanics in place for those players that need a boost.

There are several ways to earn Renown every week in WoW.

  • Torghast
  • Anima
  • Players can progress the story of their chosen Covenant
  • Raids, Dungeons, Callings (to catch up on Renown)

Renown is not only useful for progressing through a Covenant's story, though, as it is also connected to the receipt of special cosmetics, Soulbinds, and beyond. Furthermore, Renown plays a central role in upgrading Covenant armor in Shadowlands, which gives players some additional incentive for improving their reputation. However, with the variety of loot sources that are available in Shadowlands, it is unlikely that armor upgrades are the primary reason that most fans are working to gain Renown.
