World of Warcraft: Classic will add the The Burning Crusade expansion this year; after the announcement was leaked ahead of BlizzCon 2021.

IGN report that while the game was supposed to be announced at BlizzCon 2021, the press kit had leaked early. The expansion is for World of Warcraft: Classic, and born of the success of that game. The expansion originally released in 2007 for the original World of Warcraft, and was the first expansion for the game.

The expansion will add Draenei to the Allance and Blood Elves to the Horde as playable races, raises the level cap to 70, adds the Outland areas, new dungeons, flying mounts, and more. The original expansion also saw changes to the combat rating system, new spells, PVP features, and profession changes.

IGN report content will be released in phases, as with World of Warcraft: Classic. This includes the Black Temple, Zul’Aman, and Sunwell. Players will be able to choose whether to bring their Classic character into The Burning Crusade server, or move to the purely Classic server. The Burning Crusade: Classic will be free to all players with a World of Warcraft subscription.
