xQc Can’t Go Back Home Because People Keep Breaking In

Over the past few months, streamers have fallen victim to abuse via hate raids on their accounts, and in some instances, in person. Twitch streamer Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel was one of these victims after being subjected to swatting on multiple occasions in his home in Texas. As a result, he was forced to move out of his home for his own safety. He briefly spoke about his living conditions on one of his recent streams.

As spotted by Dexerto, xQc briefly spoke about his ordeal in an understandably frustrated manner. Upon being asked about his living situation during the stream, he said “Millionaire by the way, moving house every two weeks? I have to move out dude, I can’t even go back to my house man, it’s not safe.”

“Yeah, I don’t know,” he continued after a long pause. “Maybe if people stop showing up to the fucking house and stop fucking breaking in maybe I’d go home dude. Jesus Christ.”

A number of marginalised streamers have been facing hate raids on a daily basis. It involves their chats getting flooded by abuse, racial slurs, and even Nazi imagery. As a response, many of them took to social media and even made the hashtag #TwitchDoBetter trend. Twitch put out a statement saying, “We’ve seen a lot of conversation about botting, hate raids, and other forms of harassment targeting marginalized creators. You’re asking us to do better, and we know we need to do more to address these issues.”

However, some streamers decided take things into their own hands and organised a campaign called #ADayOffTwitch. The movement involved all associated streamers going off the streaming platform on September 1. One of the newer ways that streamers are being targeted is via IP logging tools disguised as followers. The follower’s profile link was attached to an IP grabber link which would log the streamer’s IP, making them susceptible to hate raids.

Last month we reported that somebody tried to set fire to Amouranth’s house. Nobody was hurt and the fire was put out quickly, but the streamer mentioned that the authorities strongly suspected arson.
