Anthem Overhaul Still in the Works, Confirms BioWare Austin Studio Director

Earlier today, it was announced that BioWare veterans Casey Hudson and Mark Darrah would no longer be working with the studio. This is Hudson’s second departure from the developer and Darrah was previously working on the next Dragon Age. So obviously there’s concern, especially given the studio’s high-profile mishaps like Mass Effect Andromeda and Anthem.

Even more interesting, however, is that BioWare Austin studio director Christian Dailey is now in charge of Dragon Age 4. Dailey is perhaps better known as handling Anthem and its updates post-launch while also being in charge of the game’s much-needed revamp. In a new tweet, Dailey said that joining the Dragon Age team was a “tough decision but made easier because of the talented Anthem leadership and team in place.”

So for all intents and purposes, the live-service looter shooter’s rework is still happening. With the second anniversary of its launch coming up next February and no real indication for when the rework will roll-out, however, its ultimate fate remains to be seen. As for Dragon Age 4, it’s not coming any time soon with EA previously indicating a release date some time after April 1st 2022.

Thank you all for the love and enthusiasm you've shared with me re: Anthem. Wishing my friends @caseyDHudson and @bioMarkDarrah the very best. Big shoes to fill as I join the DA team. Tough decision but made easier because of the talented Anthem leadership and team in place.
