It was clear the moment Bungie split from Activision that they’d have a much different approach to handling Destiny going forward. Constant updates to the game in the last couple of years have made it clear that Bungie plan on continuing support for the shooter for the foreseeable future, and in order to support that as well as other things they have in the works, the studio is also undergoing major expansions.

Bungie has announced that it’s kicking off an expansion and major redesign of its headquarters, which will increase its footprint from 84,000 sq. ft. to more than 208,000 sq. ft. and add more “state-of-the-art facilities”. The expansion is set to be concluded by Fall 2022. The developer will also be opening up its first international office in Amsterdam next year.

Bungie says that the primary reasons for this expansion are continued long-term development of Destiny 2, planned multimedia expansions of the Destiny universe, and work on more new IPs.

“One of the primary drivers of Bungie’s expansion is to increase the commitment to the long-term development of Destiny 2, tell new stories in the Destiny Universe, and create entirely new worlds in to-be-announced IPs,” the developer writes.

Bungie has previously said that it plans to release at least one new non-Destiny IP by 2025, while job ads have suggested that it’s going to be a multiplayer game with “lighthearted and whimsical characters.” Read more on that through here.
