The list of issues and controversies that have surrounded CD Projekt RED since the botched launch of Cyberpunk 2077 is shockingly long, but the developer has, at the very least, been willing to accept and honour refunds for players who’ve been dissatisfied enough with the game that the developer has put out. And it’s unknown if this is how the process is supposed to work or if it’s simply a question of some delayed processing, but it seems many who have been issued their refunds haven’t actually had to return the game.

In a report by Vice, several people who asked for refunds for their purchases of Cyberpunk 2077 stated that even after having received refunds, they’ve gotten to keep the game itself. One person who bought the $250 collector’s edition still hasn’t been asked to ship it back to CDPR, while it seems even one digital purchaser who purchased a download code of the game at retail still has access to the game.

It’s worth mentioning that CD Projekt RED might simply not have finished the processing of those refunds yet, and could be busy processing refunds before they actually get down to asking for physical copies to be sent back and for access to digital copies be blocked. That’s where things stand right now though.

In spite of the plethora of issues the game and CDPR themselves have faced since launch, Cyberpunk 2077 has been selling high numbers, having sold a total of over 13 million units within less than two weeks of release, and over 10 million digital units across December.

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game recently received its next major patch, which you can read more about through here.
