Travelling and Collecting Pets
Prepare to face the darkness once again. The madness awaits as an Early Access crawls to a close. The Darkest Dungeon awaits. Today, Red Hook Studios is excited to announce the final update of their turn-based RPG roguelike, Darkest Dungeon II’s Early Access phase. The update, titled Redemption Road, is bringing a host of new features and quality of life improvements. A press release provides more details on the update.
Leaving Early Access on May 8th, Darkest Dungeon II invites players back into the Lovecraftian madness that only a trip of the damned could provide. Combining the RPG and roguelike elements of the first game with 3D animation, new gameplay mechanics, and systems, the game stays true to the first with more features.
The Redemption Road update is revamping the travel map to add more strategic thought to traversing the map outside of combat. The stagecoach will now be vulnerable to various hazards. Importantly, the stagecoach will also have armor and wheel tokens which can be expended. However, there is more. Players can look forward to collecting pets. Interestingly, there are now 10 pet companions to unlock that bring their own effects to your different runs. Of course, there are various other gameplay adjustments and balance changes. For instance, a long awaited change to loathing as well as making Candle scoring more permissive.
Darkest Dungeon II is leaving Early Access on May 8th. Currently the game is available in Early Access on Steam and the Epic Games Store. So, are you ready to jump into the carriage and enter the Darkest Dungeon?
