2019’s Disco Elysium was a surprise hit that year. A new type of take on the adventure game, it impressed many with its great writing and interesting morality system. Now the game is set to get an enhanced re-release called The Final Cut that was announced at the end of last year. It seems this version of the game is the one the developer had hoped to ship since the beginning.

The Final Cut will include additional content, though none that has bearing on the main story, as well as full voice acting support, something many had hoped for in the original release. Speaking with Polygon, Lead Writer Helen Hindpere said this release was the dream since the beginning when the game first began development almost six years ago, but could not quite get to due to time constraints, particularly things like around the full voice acting that was too large a task at the time. According to her, “In many ways, this is the Disco Elysium we dreamt of launching when we started development in 2014.”

Disco Elysium – The Final Cut will release for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC and Stadia in March, with versions for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and Switch coming later in 2021. Those who have the original game on PC already will get an upgrade to The Final Cut free of charge.
