Epic Games has confirmed rumours of the next Fortnite season taking fans back in time to the game’s original chapter.

Once this year’s Halloween event is out of the way, Fortnite fans can look forward to the battle royale’s next season of content kicking off on November 3, as confirmed by Epic Games.

Exact details of what to expect are being kept under wraps, but Epic Games’ first teaser appears to corroborate recent leaks and theories of it involving time travel.

A brief Twitter post reads: ‘Sprint (or Mantle, your choice) back to Chapter 1,’ referring to the batch of seasonal content that ran from 2017 to 2019, indicating that Fortnite’s original map will make a return.

While this detail isn’t formally confirmed, bringing back the original map is the only way a throwback themed season make sense. Plus, there has been fan demand for the old map ever since it was destroyed by a black hole.

Reliable Fortnite leakers HYPEX and Shiina claimed earlier this month that the game would return to its original map for Chapter 4 Season 5, via the time machine used by Kado Thorne – the villain of the current season.

The official Fortnite Twitter account seemed to tease this when it shared promotional art of Kado standing in front of the machine, which was set to the date of July 12, 2018, aka the date Chapter 1 Season 5 launched.

However, Epic Games apparently isn’t simply reintroducing the original map untouched. It’s been suggested that it and the current maps will be fused together.

What’s more, each week will see frequent map changes, as well as the appearances of old weapons to reflect different seasons from Fortnite Chapter 1, before leading into the start of Chapter 5.

As for what comes after, there have already been a couple of rumours. Back in August, it was said Chapter 5 will introduce a Mario Kart style racing mode and it’s frequently been claimed that there’s a Lego collaboration in the works too.

Fortnite is available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.

LEAK: The Fortnite X LEGO products will be released in early 2024, which lines up with whispers I heard about LEGO likely NOT being in Season 5 👀
Also, I am now able to confirm the LEGO ‘Llama Polybag’ rumor! 🔥
