Get ready for a serious nostalgia trip: G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout has been revealed as a new team-based, third-person shooter and it's all set to arrive in October 2020.
Many of you today are probably familiar with G.I. Joe from the campy movies, but it originally got its start in comic books. From there, it created a pretty popular line of toys which soon exploded in popularity thanks to a tremendously popular cartoon in the 80s. Now, those same O.G. designs are being used as the basis for G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout, a brand-new third-person shooter from Game Mill Entertainment.
Check out the G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout Reveal Trailer to see this upcoming game in action:
Notably, you won't just be playing as the good guys in this one. The forces of Cobra are very much playable, and that's great — the bad guys had just as many cool characters as the good guys, after all. Players can enjoy an 18-mission single-player campaign that also includes split-screen co-op. Of course, there will also be PvP multiplayer.
Based on what we can see in the trailer, Operation Blackout will have players cutting their way through a bunch of mooks and some of the more notable lieutenants from the evil organization including the dreaded Cobra himself. As IGN reports, the heroes are going to have unique powers, so there will be plenty of ways for you to play.
Interestingly, "Operation Blackout," as a name, isn't exactly new to the world of G.I. Joe. As G.I. Joe fansite Yo Joe! shows, the name was also used for a Hasbro Direct promotional advertisement in 1988, promising to give clever kids a free poster if they could break a secret code.
When is the G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout Release Date?
This new G.I. Joe game is looking pretty cool, and those of you who might want to play it will be happy to hear that you won't have to wait too long: the G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout release date is October 13, 2020.
G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout will be launching for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch pretty darn soon! No price has been announced.
