Sony Santa Monica studio has been the God of War studio for pretty much as long as it’s been around, and though they have, of course, been involved in other projects as well, that series has been their bread and butter and what they’ve always been best known for. God of War will obviously continue to be a big part of the studio for years to come, but it seems they’ve got some other stuff cooking as well.
As per a job listing for the position of Art Director recently shared by the studio on Twitter, they’ve got another project in the works besides the upcoming God of War: Ragnarok (or whatever they finally end up calling the sequel). The listing states that they’re looking to recruit for the “development of a new unannounced title”, which they’re hoping will be a “genre-defining” game. Meanwhile, the studio’s tweet states it’s looking to deliver “best-in-class visual quality.”
It should be interesting to see what this project turns out to be, and given the developer’s talent and track record, it’s probably going to be one to keep an eye on. However long it will be before we hear anything about it remains to be seen.
God of War: Ragnarok, meanwhile, is scheduled for now to release this year. Whether or not it will be a cross-gen game is something Sony has refused to comment on just yet.
