Hatch Tales is Releasing on Switch with New Content

Hatch Tales

Chicken Wiggle, the 2D platformer from Atooi that released on Nintendo 3DS back in 2017, was slated to launch on Switch as an updated version of the game under the name Chicken Wiggle Workshop. After a period of silence on its progress, Atooi has revealed new details, including the game’s new name.

Hatch Tales, which will be published by Limited Run Games, has evolved from a port of Chicken Wiggle to a new experience with brand-new gameplay elements. “Hatch Tales has been an ‘eggcellent’ opportunity for us to develop a new platform game for a new era of Atooi game development on Nintendo Switch,” said Atooi’s Jools Watsham. “What started as a poultry port of Chicken Wiggle has blossomed into achieving a new flight of fancy that we believe fans of the original, as well as newcomers to the game, will enjoy immensely.”

We finally revealed a ton of new features we’re adding to Hatch Tales!

A new trailer for the game reveals the new overworld map for level selection as well as Holly and Squiggle, who will be debuting with their own campaign called Holly’s Nightmare, which can be unlocked by finishing the first part of the campaign titled Hatch’s Awakening. User-generated content will be a focus of the game, and video game composer/industry legend Grant Kirkhope will be lending his musical genius to the soundtrack.

Mutant Mudds fans are getting a little love, as Max will appear in Hatch Tales as a playable character accompanied by his water cannon and jetpack. Watsham didn’t provide any further details on Max’s addition to the game, but said more information will be revealed soon.

Hatch Tales has been a longtime work in progress, and Watsham is aware that fans have been waiting quite some time for this project beyond the initial expected release. He shared the following statement: “We must take a moment to apologize to everyone for the delay in releasing Hatch Tales much later than our original estimate. It is our hope you will feel the wait was worth it when the final game is in your hands in 2021. It is this vision that inspires us to make Hatch Tales all that it can be. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
