Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity might not be a traditional mainline Zelda release, but Nintendo have still been positioning the musou spinoff as their flagship Holiday game for this year. Anticipation surrounding the Breath of the Wild prequel was high in the lead-up to its launch, and it seems that anticipation has led to some surprisingly strong sales.
Koei Tecmo, developers of the game, have announced (via Famitsu) that Age of Calamity has already surpassed digital and physical shipments of 3 million units worldwide, less than a week from its launch on November 20. In doing so, it has also already become the highest selling musou game of all time, outselling every single Dynasty Warriors and Warriors Orochi release, as well as other musou crossovers such as Dragon Quest Warriors, Fire Emblem Warriors, the previous Hyrule Warriors game, and more.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is available now, exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
