For PC gamers looking to upgrade their setup, Nvidia has just recently announced some of the upgrades for its new graphics card, the GeForce RTX 3090.

In preparation for Nvidia’s GeForce event coming next week, the company has unveiled a video that shows the new design for its next-gen graphics card. Recent leaks from the company have also hinted that the official announcement for this graphics card will happen on September 1st of this year.

Near the end of the video, Nvidia quickly highlights the design for the RTX 3090. It matches the description from the leaks previously made on Twitter. The company then goes onto describe what changes it is going to make to its Ampere based GeForce cards.

Part of the leak suggests that the RTX 3090 will ship in a pennant shaped board and have a new cooling shroud. Part of the updated design has a significant emphasis on cooling as Nvidia plans to improve airflow constraints that exist with its current GPUs. The video also explains the new design for the graphics card that uses a low profile spring that covers the back of the card and gives it a hardened exterior. Part of the larger size also means that the RTX 3090 might take up three slots and ship with 24GB of GDDR6X memory capacity, making it a force to be reckoned with in the market.

Nvidia’s way to accommodate for the new focus on a cooling solution is to upgrade power connector charges as well. The other part of the leak hints that Nvidia may plan to move to a 12 pin connector which is smaller than its current eight-pin connector, but it will also include an adapter for eight-pin cables.  At the moment, it is unclear if Nvidia’s third party board partners will also be utilizing the new 12 pin connector.

There are still many questions that will need answering when the GeForce event comes around, but it is nice to have more clarity on what to expect. It is also rumored that the RTX 3090 price tag could be approximately 1,400 dollars, so it is essential to know what gamers will be putting into their computers. Even with all these design improvements, there are still questions about what this will achieve in terms of a performance boost from the previous RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti graphics card. So until GeForce comes around, fans better start saving their money now, because this will definitely put a dent into their savings either way.
