Let’s do some classic good news, bad news.
The good news: In honor of the 25th anniversary of the Pokémon series, McDonald’s and The Pokémon Company have partnered together for a special promotion. Every Happy Meal will come with a Pokémon TCG booster pack that contains four cards. There are 25 cards to collect, with a holo version of each available, thus bringing the total to 50 for those wanting all variants. Alongside the cards, customers will also get:
- Foldable deck boxes
- Sticker sheet featuring 25 stickers of various Pokémon
- Plastic card display holder
- Larger stickers featuring Pikachu and other Pokémon
Just because it’s mealtime, that doesn’t mean you have to stop celebrating 25 years of Pokémon. Starting today, McDonald’s Happy Meals will include a 25th Anniversary Special Edition McDonald’s booster pack of Pokémon Trading Card Game cards.
Each of these packs includes four exclusive cards. You’ll have the opportunity to collect cards featuring all 24 first partner Pokémon from the many regions in the Pokémon world, plus Pikachu. There are standard and foil versions of each card, and all the cards sport the Pokémon 25th logo. In total, there are 50 cards in this set, so have fun collecting and trading with your friends.
These cool Pokémon TCG cards will only be available in McDonald’s Happy Meals for a limited time, so don’t wait to start your collection.
Okay, now for the bad news: scalpers are ruining the fun for everyone. Resellers are sniping entire boxes of the boosters and jacking up the price on websites like eBay. This means actual fans are being taken advantage of in droves thanks to the antics of a relative few. It’s immensely disappointing, but we hope that everyone reading this can try to avoid paying these scalpers whenever possible. Don’t give them money and it will mean they either have to drop prices or stop the practice altogether. While it’s unlikely that this will prompt any changes, for those sick of seeing resellers make the price of collectibles skyrocket, refusing to buy from them might be the only real option available.
