Last week, rumours surfaced online about Rockstar Dundee remastering the Grand Theft Auto trilogy for multiple platforms, including Nintendo Switch.

The original Kotaku story said there was a possibility of these games arriving as early as October or November this year, but new information provided by reputable Call of Duty and Battlefield leaker Tom Henderson claims the trilogy remaster won't show up until next year:

"I wasn't going to mention the GTA Remastered Trilogy, because everything I've heard has been covered – The only difference is that I don't believe the launch time frame is correct…Sometime in 2022."

As highlighted by a story on our sister site Pure Xbox, the "next-gen version" of GTA V is heading to Xbox this November, so it would make a lot of sense for Rockstar to avoid releasing a possible trilogy remaster around the same time.

Apart from Henderson, VGC's Andy Robinson has also backed up the original Kotaku report about a remaster of the GTA trilogy over the past week:

"The [Kotaku] report corroborates information VGC has recently received from its own sources, which also suggested the remasters were in development."

VGC has noted how GTA parent Take-Two confirmed the development of three unannounced titles based on "previously released" games during its recent investor presentation.

According to Kotaku's original story, the remastered trilogy will run on the Unreal Engine, and will be a mix of "new and old" graphics.
