The pandemic has caused all sorts of delays, including those for certain milestone celebrations of various beloved video game characters. It’s taken a while, but fans will finally learn what Sega has in store for Sonic the Hedgehog and his 30th anniversary. Here’s the announcement for Sonic Central:
You’ve waited patiently, and we finally have some exciting Sonic the Hedgehog news to share with you! Tune in on Thursday May 27th from 9am PT / 12pm ET / 5pm BST / 6pm CET for a first-look at what’s coming as we celebrate #Sonic30th! pic.twitter.com/WuCoUBFaRk

On Thursday, May 27, fans can tune in at 9 AM PST for what seems to be a Nintendo Direct-style broadcast that will provide an overview of “upcoming projects, partnerships, and events.” Hopefully this will include a new game or games featuring Sonic and friends. It’s been a few years since the releases of Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces; the time seems ripe for some new Sonic fun. We already know that there’s a card game in the works and special comic books, but what else could be headed our way? Guess we’ll all find out on Thursday!
