In a dedicated segment covering Minecraft’s Steve in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, director Masahiro Sakurai revealed how the new DLC fighter would function. A release date for the Challenger Pack was also revealed and it’s soon – October 13th worldwide. Along with Steve, there are three skins (Alex, Zombie and Enderman), seven music tracks from Minecraft, and a new stage (Minecraft World).
Steve’s moveset may be the most interesting of all DLC fighters thus far. While you can wield an axe, pickaxe or sword while walking, they also allow for new functions. Mining allows for digging up different materials (which varies depending on the stage) while Crafting is necessary to keep creating new tools (which can be more powerful depending on the material).
Steve can also create blocks which can either serve as defensive measures or to gain a vantage point. The Final Smash involves a large piston launching foes into the House of Boom with some Creepers for massive fireworks. The new stage, Minecraft World, also consists of six different biomes from the game with a day/night cycle, zombies and skeletons and much more.
Minecraft’s Steve arrives in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate next week. The Challenger Pack will retail for $5.99 and is included with Fighters Pass Vol. 2 for $24.99.
