You might not have heard of Unavowed, but if you're a fan of adventure games, point-and-clicks, and excellent narratives in the vein of old-school Monkey Island, you should have heard of Wadjet Eye.

The American studio is perhaps the closest spiritual successor to the point-and-click games of the 90s (well, except Double Fine, which still exists) with games like The Shivah, The Blackwell Legacy, and Unavowed gaining the respect of critics and fans alike while still maintaining a "cult" status.

Unavowed first came out on PC in 2018, and was an unexpected success for Wadjet Eye, with founder Dave Gilbert stating in an interview with Adventure Gamers that it outsold "everything we've done by far". The game was nominated for its excellent storytelling in both the Golden Joystick Awards and the Independent Games Festival Awards, and The Escapist's "Yahtzee" — known for hating most things — ranked it as his fifth favourite game of 2018. That's quite the number of accolades!

But what is Unavowed? It's a point-and-click adventure game in which you play as a guy/gal in New York City who wakes up one day to discover that they were possessed by a demon, and went on a bit of a rampage. In league with a bunch of supernatural investigators, they set out to figure out exactly what that year-long rampage involved.

Players will be able to build their party with a bunch of different characters, as well as being able to choose their background (cop/actor/barkeeper) which will influence the story. It's also fully voice-acted, and presented in the 2D pixel-art style that your '90s nostalgia will drool over.

Anyway, it's out on Switch right now! Surprise! If you're a fan of point-and-clicks, Unavowed is a must-play.
