If you missed it, the massive Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 update was actually released yesterday! With it, came A LOT of additions to the game! This will be the game’s final free update, a bit bitter sweet, but there is a lot within it to keep us happy for some time.
- Brewster is back (and Gyroids too)! The Roost is returning to Animal Crossing and will be located inside the town museum. To invite Brewster, you must first talk to Blathers and then travel with Kapp’n to a randomized island. There, Brewster will be looking for Gyroids (which are also back and cuter than ever). He will give you a Gyroid fragment, which can be buried and uncovered the next day as a fully-formed Gyroid. Return to Blathers and then wait a day until the museum renovations are complete.
- Harv’s Island is expanding! You can now donate funds for the wandering merchants to take residence there permanently. Characters like Leif, Kicks, and Sahara can be persuaded to set up shop and therefore be visited whenever you want. There are some hoops and restrictions. You must have at least a 3-star island and you can only fully fund each merchant once a day. Returning characters will also be found in the game through Harv’s island as well. Katrina the fortune teller, old mayor Tortimer, hair dresser Harriet, and Cyrus and Reece are also returning to offer familiar and new services!
- DIY cooking recipes and new crops to farm! Before, pumpkins were the only farm-able DIY ingredient. Starters could be purchased from Leif. But now, Leif will be selling starters for wheat, sugarcane, tomatoes, potatoes, and carrots. All of which can be used to create various foods that can be displayed or eaten! You’ll have to be patient, however, and either wait for Leif to visit your island or donate 100,000 bells to fund the permanent “botany expert with the greenest thumbs”.
- Kapp’n is back with boat tours to randomized islands! For 1,000 nook miles, randomized islands can be visited once a day. Islands may be in a different season, have crops you can harvest, or even rocks that produce star fragments!
Other smaller additions worth mentioning
- Items can now be hung from the ceiling.
- One wall in each room can be set with a different wallpaper to create a accent wall.
- Blathers has museum posters for sale!
- New camera mode for first-person perspective photos.
- New hairstyles, poses, and home storage expansions.
- New redeemable nook mile items.
- …and more!
Also, don’t forget that the Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise DLC is also available right now,
