Ghost Of Tsushima Developer Sees DualSense Haptic Feedback As “Big Deal”

Ghost of Tsushima launched last week, and thus far seemed to be doing pretty well for itself. With solid reviews, such as ours, as well what appear to be strong sales, it seems the game was a slam dunk for developer Sucker Punch. What’s next is up in the air, but it’s almost certainly going to be for Sony’s newest console, the PS5. And from that, one feature has Sucker Punch getting excited.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Sucker Punch Co-founder and Producer Brian Fleming talked about what the studio was excited about in regards to PS5 features. His big thing seemed to be the haptic feedback of the DualSense controller. While he didn’t give any specific details, Fleming said that features like that excited him because it can connect the player in physical ways to the action portrayal on screen.

“If you’re gonna be one of the final big titles on a console, you’re kind of necessarily one of the trailing groups getting on to the next hardware and that’s kind of where we are. That all said I think I’m particularly nerdily excited about haptic feedback in the controller. We talked about how we really love how controllers kind of connect [you to the game], and anything that gives us more ability to give the player better tactile feedback about what’s going on I think will be a big deal. So I think for Sucker Punch, that’s a particularly interesting area, right?”

Fleming isn’t the only one, either, as a few other developers have expressed similar sentiments. I imagine a feedback system like the DualSense could be implemented pretty well in a game with parry-based combat like Ghost of Tsushima. We’ll just have to wait and see how the folks at Sucker Punch utilize it on their inevitable PS5 title.
