Monster Hunter Rise PC won’t have Switch cross-play or cross-save

Monster Hunter Rise 12 1

Monster Hunter Rise won’t have cross-play or cross-save features between the PC and Nintendo Switch versions, Capcom has confirmed.

The game’s publisher revealed that it had looked into implementing this much requested feature, stating:

We’ve heard your requests for cross-save / cross-play for Monster Hunter Rise and Sunbreak, but unfortunately, after looking into it throughout the development process, we found we are unable to implement it this time. As always, we appreciate your continued feedback and support.

Some Monster Hunter fans are hoping cross-platform integration will be enabled at a later stage. However, this seems very unlikely, meaning that those who want to jump from their Nintendo Switch to the PC will need to start the game from scratch.

Monster Hunter Rise also won the Grand Award at the recent Japan Game Awards 2021 alongside Sony’s Ghost of Tsushima. In our review, we scored the handheld Monster Hunter an incredible 9/10:

“Monster Hunter Rise is an incredible game. While it may not feel quite as ground-breaking for the series as World did, it boasts a stronger and distinctly Japanese identity, and the changes and streamlined gameplay simply focus on the franchise’s true stars – the monsters. Rise is easily one of the best games for the Nintendo Switch, and one of the finest Monster Hunters ever.”

In case you missed it, there’s a Monster Hunter rise expansion on the way. Much like Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak will add new monsters to fight, gear to craft, and areas to explore in Summer 2022.
