Capcom have announced that Monster Hunter Rise has sold 5 million globally, just over a week after launching.

The game launched on March 26th on Nintendo Switch, with the Friday launch no doubt helping fuel many sales. The game’s popularity even saw one Japanese CEO give his employees the day off for the game’s launch.

We previously reported on Monster Hunter Rise hitting 4 million copies sold just three days after launch. Now, even the official website is adorned with the achievement of breaking 5 million.

As previously reported, Monster Hunter Rise is the first mainline Monster Hunter title since the successful Monster Hunter World. Players return to the original style of gameplay, this time taking place in an eastern-style region, along with new mechanics, and monsters inspired by Japanese mythology.

The new mechanics include being able to mount and control monsters in battle, and holding back the hordes in the Rampage as they assault the village. Players also have the Palamute, a new canine companion that can aid players in combat and quick traversal.
