Apparently the Nintendo Switch is going to receive a fairly substantial upgrade early next year in the form of a potential Nintendo Switch Pro, a report from Bloomberg states.. Rather than some minor upgrades in battery life that we saw for the Nintendo Switch last year with the new model, next year's upgrade looks more like a New 3DS than a 2DS equivalent that the Nintendo Switch Lite was, or the type of 'slim' update that the new model was.

While the specifications of the upgraded Nintendo Switch has "yet to be finalized", apparently Nintendo has looked into things such as more computing power and 4k high-definition graphics. With the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X on its way, it looks as though Nintendo is trying to remain technologically relevant going forward, which definitely makes sense.

Many have noticed the lack of Nintendo Switch games over 2020, and the reason for that is apparently due to the new Switch, which Nintendo will unleash with the upgraded Switch, which Bloomberg calls a "slew of games from Nintendo itself and related outside studios". Nintendo is saving up their titles to go with the new Switch in what seems to be almost akin to a lost year in gaming anyway due to unforeseen circumstances.

Even with the Nintendo Switch barely having any new games of note this year besides Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the demand for the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch Lite have been so high that it took until the beginning of August for the demand to subside enough that its earlier "production bottleneck has been resolved", which has been helped by the lack of anyone wanting to buy new and expensive smartphones this year for some strange and arcane reason.

That said, this is far from the first time rumors of an improved Switch model have come up. They have been circling since not long after the systems release, and remained persistent despite the lack of a new and improved Switch. Some of that is likely hopeful thinking, some based on Nintendo's history of mid-generation handheld upgrades, but some seems based on actual facts, and that seems to be the case here with Bloomberg and a Taiwanese news outlet.

Regardless, stay tuned to TechRaptor for more news on this developing story. We'll update this article as more news comes in.
