Ubisoft’s 2020 PS5 and Xbox Series X Games Will Cost $60

So far, 2K Games are the only publisher to have announced a price of $70 for one of their games on the PS5 and Xbox Series X – that being NBA 2K21 – but many believe that many others will follow, especially given the fact that though costs of video game development have gone up astronomically, the standard price of games has stuck at the $60 mark for over a decade.

However, Ubisoft games releasing for nex-gen platforms will be launching for the regular $60 price- at least this year. Speaking during their recent investors call for Q1 of financial year 2020-21, the company confirmed that Watch Dogs: Legion and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla would not be costlier on next-gen consoles. Interestingly enough, however, when asked if that will be the case for games releasing in 2021 and beyond as well, Ubisoft refused to say anything either way, stating that for now they are concentrating only on the games launching this year.

If Ubisoft do increase prices for their next-gen games going forward as well, it will be interesting to see how they handle Smart Delivery and next-gen upgrdes on PS5. Of course, they haven’t yet said that they will be doing that, but it is very much within the realm of possibility.

During the investors call, Ubisoft also confirmed that a second Ubisoft Forward digital event will be coming in September.
