Yakuza: Like a Dragon released in Japan as Yakuza 7 quite some time ago. The game took the series in a pretty radical new direction from a gameplay standpoint, turning it into essentially a turn-based Japanese RPG. And like many RPGs, Like a Dragon is flush with characters, and one of the most central ones got a special highlight today in Saeko Mukouda.
If you’re not too familiar with the franchise, an English dub is relatively new for the series, and Sega has done a lot to highlight the English voice actors in these dubs. Elizabeth Maxwell will voice Mukouda here, and in the trailer she talks about what it’s like to voice a character that is intense, but often has a hard time properly expressing herself. Maxwell also talks about trying to translate things like jokes from the Japanese to English in a way that properly conveys the humor, something that is often hard. Maxwell will most likely sound familiar to you as she’s voiced major characters in the likes of Persona 5 and Astral Chain.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon is slated to release sometime this year in the west for PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC, with most signs pointing to November. A PS5 version will also come at a later date. Those on Xbox can catch up with the series via Game Pass as multiple older entries are now available there.
