The Western Chipmunk is an elusive animal, and rather small. Not only is it difficult to spot at the best of times, but you also need to try and hunt for these animals at a specific time. From our own experience, this is throughout most of the day — between 6 am and 7 pm. You'll need to find Chipmunks to complete daily challenges in Red Dead Online.

In addition to looking at the right time of the day, you also need to know exactly where to find them. There are loads of different spots spread out across the map where Chipmunks can spawn, both in Red Dead Online and in Red Dead Redemption 2's campaign. We'll highlight some of the best spots here.
Every Spot On The Map Where Western Chipmunks Spawn
Western Chipmunks are required to complete Daily Challenges in Red Dead Online, although you can hunt them during the single-player campaign of Red Dead Redemption 2 as well. They produce delicious, delicious Stringy Meat and a pelt. If you're on the hunt for a perfect pelt, you better use a bow with small game arrows rather than a Varmint rifle. That bullet will rip the pelt to shreds.
Finding a spot where Western Chipmunks spawn is hardly a problem, it's actually finding the tiny critters that can be tricky. You can see from this map that the Chipmunks spawn all over the place. Some highlights include the Wapiti Indian Reservation, Beaver Hollow along Roanoke Ridge, and Gaptooth Ridge.
Like all good hunters, you should find your favorite spot and stake it out over the course of the day, between 6 am and 7 pm in-game time. Chipmunks won't venture out at nighttime.
Perfect Spot For Farming Western Chipmunks: Wapiti Indian Reservation
This is a good spot for farming Western Chipmunks: it's a large area, the grass isn't too long in certain areas (makes it easier to spot the critters), and it can be traversed easily by foot or on a horse. There's also a very handy fast travel location just to the southeastern corner of the reservation. This makes it very easy to jump back to the area after selling your Chipmunks or handing them in for a daily challenge.
Western Chipmunks spawn all over the reservation, although the area to the east has less grassy areas where they can be easier to spot at range. Remember, you can always use the Eagle Eye mode to spot Chipmunks regardless of how hidden they are. These critters will also run from your horse, so be a bit careful when you go charging in.
