Next year, we will see the latest entry in the Resident Evil series, the nontraditional named Resident Evil Village. The game will continue onward from the story and style of Resident Evil 7, and we have had a lot of different leaks about the game, from its supposed early story beats to loads of information about it from a rumored playtest. Now, another leak is here, though it’s less about the story and more about how long you can enjoy it.
The resident leaker (no pun intended) of the franchise, Dusk Golem, took to his Twitter to answer a few people who were concerned about the potential of a price hike for next gen titles from Capcom. While he didn’t weigh in on the debate itself, he did say that people shouldn’t worry all too much about getting your value, saying that Village will be the longest running game in the RE Engine, the latest in-house game engine at Capcom that was debuted with RE7.
It’s not saying all the much to be honest, since the games that have utilized it so far have been RE2, 3, 7 and Devil May Cry 5, all games that were noted for having an overall short length with focus on replayablity. But it’s also consistent with what the same leaker said in the past that Village would be longer than its predecessor. As of now the game is set to release at some point in 2021.
(2/2) in dev right now, I'm only talking about RE8 right now but people know RE4 is also coming up at this point. RE8 will be the longest RE Engine game to date, & without saying too much the other stuff coming up should follow a similar trend.
