No game company is impervious to leaks, Square Enix included. With that in mind, a new listing on the PlayStation Store, Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars, may be Square Enix's latest title.
Video game leaks play a dangerous role in the video game industry. While potentially being an exciting reveal that can get fans prepared for a formal announcement, leaks also spoil the labor of the developers and can potentially create unrest if not aligning with fan expectations. As recently as E3 2021, Square Enix has had some of its announcements spoiled by leaks. Just before the event, both Final Fantasy Origin and Guardians of the Galaxy were leaked online, arguably two of the company's biggest announcements from this year's showcase.

A new game by Square Enix titled Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars recently appeared on the Asian PlayStation Store. Previously, Square Enix had trademarked both "Voice of Cards" and "The Isle Dragon Roars," but has yet to state anything officially about this development. The only glimpse at what this game may look like artistically comes from its icon on PSN, bearing heavy similarities to the artwork of Final Fantasy and NieR franchises. No description of the game or screenshots are available on the listing.
With such sparse information regarding Voice of Cards, fans have begun speculating what this title may in fact be. Based on the game's name and the icon artwork, there is a likelihood that this is a card game featuring deckbuilding components like Hearthstone. Considering the popularity of the genre, it would make sense for Square Enix to finally jump in on the action. There are other rumors also suggesting that this is in fact, a small side project of Yoko Taro's, the director of the NieR franchise, that he has been hinting at for some time.
If this game does turn out to be a deck-builder, it is curious of Square Enix not to just make a title based on or within the Final Fantasy universe. Many titles themselves have featured card-based mini-games, like Final Fantasy 8's Triple Triad game, as well as an actual line of trading cards based on Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Who knows, it may in fact tie back into Final Fantasy somehow, it being one of Square Enix's most popular franchises. However, without any official announcement from the company regarding the game or its leak, all that can be done for now is continue speculating.
Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars is in development.
