Saints Row Reboot Teased For Gamescom On August 25

A Saints Row reboot has been teased to make an appearance at Gamescom on August 25

Geoff Keighley Tweeted an image of a graffitied wall, saying, "5 days until Gamescom #OpeningNightLive on Wednesday. We are “Bossing” it with our announcements this year".

The graffiti on the wall shows the Fleur De Lis, the symbol of the Saints, as well as displaying a purple colour tone that is clearly pointing towards Saints Row. The Tweet also highlights "Bossing", which is a clear reference to The Boss, the custom character of the Saints Row series.

If there was any doubt that it was Saints Row, the Saints Row Twitter account then proceeded to comment on Geoff's status with an emoji of eyes. The Saints Row Twitter account has been updated to show the Saints logo, whilst the bio just shows the same eye emoji. The cover photo has also been updated to show the "Rebooting" graffiti.

The image of the wall shows the word "Rebooting" graffitied on it, which seems to imply that the next Saints Row will reboot the series, rather than continuing on with the superpowers and aliens approach that Saints Row 4 followed. It's not clear just how far this new entry will go in rebooting the series, as it could easily take over past the second or third game without removing the story of the first.

Fans have been calling for Saints Row to return to its roots ever since Saints Row The Third leaned into the weirdness of the franchise. The playful Tweets from the Saints Row Twitter seem to indicate that it will still have its sense of humour intact.

We've known about a new Saints Row title for a few years now, as Deep Silver confirmed long ago that Volition was working on a new entry into the series. It was last mentioned in Twitter posts after the release of Saints Row The Third Remastered, confirming to fans that it was still in development.
