Today was the first day of Gamescom 2020, with news and updates coming in from across the gaming industry. Among those updates came an announcement for the Dungeons & Dragons-inspired CRPG, Solasta: Crown of the Magister.
Developed and published by Tactical Adventures, Solasta: Crown of the Magister is set for release via Steam early access this fall. It’s a tactical, turn-based RPG that actually uses the 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons sourcebook for many of its mechanics, and applies them to the world of Solasta.

Solasta: Crown of the Magister is designed to allow players to create their own adventuring party (stat-rolling and all) and set out on an adventure as they would in a game of pencil-and-paper Dungeons & Dragons. Those curious as to how the game will work can check out the demo that just became available today on Solasta‘s Steam page, or take a tour of its online Indie Arena Booth. Ultimately, Tactical Adventures’ vision for Solasta is to be the digital video game version of a D&D session.
Solasta: Crown of the Magister first made itself known as a Kickstarter project which raised more than $270,000, significantly breaking its original goal. Last September, the Solasta team confirmed that the extra funding would allow it to add new classes and quest lines to the game.
Now, with the new demo and an early access version of the game coming soon, fans will finally be able to see the results of all that crowdfunding.
Solasta: Crown of the Magister releases on Steam’s Early Access for PC in fall 2020.
