It’s a new month, which means some new content for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Players in the northern hemisphere are now entering the fall season, which means new bugs, new fish, and more to discover. To kick off September in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Nintendo has released a new trailer that highlights some of the new content that fans in the northern hemisphere can look forward to this month.
First off, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players in the northern hemisphere will be able to better-complete their Critterpedia with the addition of new bugs. Nintendo highlighted the Cricket and Monarch Butterfly bugs specifically in the trailer. As far as fishing goes, Nintendo showcased the Salmon in the trailer, but promised that there are more new bugs and fish for northern hemisphere players to collect in September.

There will also be new sea creatures to collect as well. Any Animal Crossing: New Horizons players with a diving suit and the latest update will now be able to find Oysters on the bottom of the sea floor. Between bug catching, fishing, and deep sea diving, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players should have plenty to do in the game throughout the month of September.
While new bugs, fish, and sea creatures are no doubt appreciated by fans, though, northern hemisphere players may be most interested in the addition of some new items that can be used in crafting. September brings with it acorns and pine cones on Animal Crossing: New Horizons players’ islands, both of which can be found by shaking trees. However, acorns and pine cones aren’t visible in trees like fruit. Instead they function like branches in the game, with acorns falling out of hardwood trees and pine cones falling out of cedar trees. Both are used in a variety of DIY recipes that players can put together in the life simulation game.
Some Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans will be satisfied with the new content added in September, but others may be growing impatient for the game’s next big update. Nintendo has already teased that Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be getting a Halloween-themed update at some point in the near future. It hasn’t shared any specific release date information for the update so far, but it’s likely to be added either in late September or some point in October. It’s also unclear what the update will entail, but fans shouldn’t have to wait too much longer to learn more information.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
