Epic Games’ technology officer recently talked about how PS5 and Xbox Series X will allow them to achieve movie quality graphics in Video Games.
Epic Games’ Technology officer recently claimed in the latest issue of Official PlayStation Magazine UK that next-gen consoles would fulfill his longtime goal thanks to Unreal Engine 5’s Nanite tech, which will allow developers to put “Movie-Quality” assets in Video Games.
“It has been a lifelong dream of mine that real-time computer graphics, and in particular games, can be as believable and realistic as a movie, Next-gen graphics, and processing power will not only make games more immersive, but will also enable entirely new gameplay concepts that can take advantage of fully dynamic environments and lighting, much-improved physics, smarter AI, and richer multiplayer experiences.” -Epic Games’ technology officer Kim Liberi
Unreal Engine 4 is already allowing devs to achieve amazing graphics with technology like Quixel Textures. It will enable developers to use the textures that are used while making CGI of movies. Still, the optimization isn’t that good on current-gen consoles due to hardware limitations next-gen consoles will allow developers to use technologies like Nanite, Lumen, and Quixel at the same time, which is a huge technological advancement. The Nanite technology will enable devs to scale the assets in real-time, which will reduce the time spent while adjusting them for higher FPS and with no loss in texture quality.
Unreal Engine 5 and Next-Gen consoles are a miracle for developers. It will make the developing process much more comfortable, and the games will also be better in terms of graphical fidelity and quality. The Lumen tech will allow developers to achieve an excellent quality of lightning in their games which is a huge factor in games it takes developers a lot of time to adjust the lighting of particular scenes in Video Games that time will be reduced because of Lumen’s Lightning technique which will make the lightning in games even more realistic than current-gen games.
Unreal Engine 4 was used to make the CGI of The Mandalorian, Black Panther, The Lion King Remake, Jumanji, Pacific Rim, and many other movies you can expect the graphical fidelity of those movies in Next-Gen games it’s a vast improvement from current-gen games.
Unreal Engine 5 will even allow indie developers to achieve great graphical fidelity thanks to the quixel megascans library you can expect incredible graphical fidelity from even Indie Games because of the technological advancement of Unreal Engine 5 and Next-Gen.
So you can expect the graphical fidelity of movies in games like Hellblade 2 since Hellblade 2 is currently being made in Unreal Engine 5, according to a Microsoft Blog Post.
“The power of Xbox Series X was first demonstrated with the unveiling of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II. The team will be building the game on Unreal 5 and leveraging the power of Xbox Series X to bring the Hellblade franchise to levels never before seen. The footage shown was captured in-engine and reflected the power of Xbox Series X available to developers to deliver new universes, experiences, and games in ways you have never imagined.” -Microsoft
