Netflix The Witcher Season 3 Reportedly Appears on Writers Guild of America Database

The Witcher Netflix

Netlix’ live action adaption of The Witcher has been allegedly been confirmed for a third season, despite no official premiere date for the second.

The live action The Witcher Netflix show caused a surge of interest in the games. So much so that during the last week of December 2019, the number of Steam players surpassed its launch day numbers. Even the original book series author Andrzej Sapkowski became Amazon’s number 1 author at the time.

In April of this year, CD Projekt have revealed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has sold an estimated 28 million units worldwide. While not confirmed, it is likely the shows success has contributed to some of those sales.

The premiere date of the second season of Netflix’ The Witcher has not been announced, but showrunner Lauren S Hissrich did confirm in November 2019 that there would be a second season. While the coronavirus pandemic disrupted filming in May, Hissrich tweeted that “the sun will rise again.” A six-part prequel series The Witcher: Blood Origin was also announced.

Despite the second season’s release date not being announced, a third season is “all but confirmed” according to Redanian Intelligence (thanks VGC!) They shared an alleged screen capture from the Writers Guild of America database, listing the third season as broadcasting in 2020 to 2021. The second season is also marked as broadcasting in 2019 to 2020.

Even so, Redanian Intelligence theorize Season 2 will premiere in the second half of 2021, while Season 3 will premiere in 2022 “at the earliest.” In July 2019, supposed insider KC Walsh also claimed the show had got the Sabrina deal and is already re-upped for 3 seasons.”
