Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch Rolled Back After Save Issues

Baldur's Gate 3_02

Baldur’s Gate 3 received its first major patch recently which added more polish and bug fixes to in-game cinematics along with more combat tutorials. Unfortunately, many users reported not being able to load their saves despite the patch not explicitly wiping them. After investigating the issue, Larian Studios has decided to roll back the game to its previous build.

The developer noted on Twitter that it will redeploy the patch when the save is fixed. Players can continue playing from their previous saves when reverting back to the previous build without any extra steps being necessary. As always, we’ll need to wait for more details when the patch is good and ready.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently available in early access for PC and Google Stadia. It currently contains the first Act of the story with roughly 25 hours of gameplay. Sales thus far have been “insane” as per Larian CEO Swen Vincke and while the RPG is planned to be in early access for at least a year, the developer is committed to releasing it “when it’s ready.”

Save progression is meant to be retained after applying the patch we launched today. We're looking into reports that some of you are unable to load your saves. Keep you updated!

We've reverted to the previous build while we solve the save issue experienced by some players. Please bear with us, but once reverted you should be able to continue playing. We'll redeploy the patch when fixed!
