The Outer Worlds is an action-roleplaying video game from Obsidian Entertainment renowned for its customization, tight storytelling, and worlds ripe for exploring. While the game is available on all current-gen consoles, the Switch version was notable for being totally serviceable from a gameplay standpoint, albeit somewhat rough around the edges. With the update to Version 1.2 of the game, The Outer Worlds has made some marked improvements.
Greetings employees of Halcyon,
Employees on the Nintendo Switch should see a patch ready to download and install the next time you log on to play. For more details on this patch, view the notes here:https://t.co/jSOygA7ItB pic.twitter.com/niNuOtzWTq— The Outer Worlds (@OuterWorlds) October 21, 2020
Here are the features that were added in this update:
- Implemented a half-resolution SSAO
- Implemented Clouds in Skybox
- Replace SSR with SphereReflectionCapture
- Disabled subsurface profile shading
- Added Depth of Field to Conversation Camera
What’s more, the visual fiedlity of The Outer Worlds on Switch has been greatly improved. This was something of a sticking point for some fans and pundits, so it’s nice to see that Obsidian went through the effort to make it look even better (compared to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 iterations). For the full patch notes you can click here, but in the interim tell us what you think of all the changes down below and online!
