It’s an exciting time for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla fans who are looking for a real challenge. As tweeted today by the official Assassin’s Creed page, level scaling will be coming to Valhalla on July 27. Level scaling will allow for territory and enemies to be more balanced or more challenging for players, depending on which option you choose.

If you’re looking to feel more powerful as you play and absolutely obliterate your enemies as you progress through the game, you can choose to keep level scaling off. The enemies will then spawn “exactly as prescribed in the region description.” But if you’re really up for a challenge, you can turn level scaling on to the “Nightmarish” setting. There will be five different level scaling settings in total.
While this is great news for Valhalla, we’ve recently gotten a bit of sad news for the Assassin’s Creed franchise at large. While Valhalla’s narrative director left Ubisoft earlier this year, the art director has also now left the team as of a few days ago. Raphael Lacoste was the art director for eight different Assassin Creed titles, so it will be interesting to see how future titles look. Ubisoft has claimed that these departures are "in line with video game industry averages," but it’s hard to ignore how huge of an impact these people had on the games.
