Back 4 Blood Beta Hits Nearly 100,000 Concurrent Players

It’s been a big weekend for the Back 4 Blood beta on Steam, where the title has almost reached an impressive milestone of 100,000 concurrent players. The co-op zombie shooter has also managed to end up in the top ten most-played Steam games.

While this Back 4 Blood early access beta was available only to those who placed pre-orders, it has already shown some decent results. According to SteamDB, the beta reached a peak of 98,024 players on Steam over the weekend. The number stood at over 76,000 active players over the past 24 hours.

With these figures, Back 4 Blood has managed to punch its way through a list of popular titles on Steam at one point. Currently, the game dropped on the list a little bit, holding over 27,000 concurrent players at the time of writing.

The sheer number of active players on Steam alone shows there is a lot of interest surrounding the upcoming zombie-slaying game. And the numbers could go even higher during the game’s next open beta, which will be available to everyone who wants to give Back 4 Blood a try.

The open beta will launch on August 12 through August 16 and will be playable on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. It will include a PvP mode called Swarm and two co-op maps where you are tasked with fighting off the undead alongside your friends. The full game is expected to launch on October 12.

Despite its overwhelming popularity, the Back 4 Blood beta got plenty of negative responses from the community on Reddit, centering around the lack of a versus campaign, which was very popular in Left 4 Dead. Back 4 Blood does have its own versus mode, which is very different from what the community wants.

Another unexpected issue occurred when players heard zombies yell racial slurs during the beta. WB Games has already commented on the issue saying that the sound in question isn’t supposed to be what it sounds like, and the team is already working diligently to fix it.
