Today a big purchase was made by Microsoft for 7.5 Billion Dollars they bought Zenimax/Bethesda, which includes all of the studios such as Arkane, Tango, Bethesda Games, and iD Software it also includes all the IPs such as Doom, The Elders Scrolls, and everything else owned by Bethesda.
Todd Howard stated in a Bethesda Blog Post, “Like our original partnership, this one is about more than one system or one screen. We share a deep belief in the fundamental power of games, in their ability to connect, empower, and bring joy. And a belief we should bring that to everyone – regardless of who you are, where you live, or what you play on. Regardless of the screen size, the controller, or your ability to even use one.” this could mean that the Bethesda games aren’t gonna be Xbox Exclusives. Bethesda is still publishing Death Loop and Ghostwire as PlayStation Timed Exclusives too.
Pete Hines also stated, “But the key point is we’re still Bethesda. We’re still working on the same games we were yesterday, made by the same studios we’ve worked with for years, and those games will be published by us.” this means that the games that have already been announced will still be published by Bethesda which could mean that they won’t be exclusive to Xbox and could be on PlayStation 4 or Nintendo Switch
Does this mean that the unannounced games by Bethesda will be Xbox Exclusives and already announced games by Bethesda won’t?
We have contacted Xbox and Bethesda and will keep you updated if they reply.
But this is still big for Xbox because of Gamepass. It would gain more subscribers when Bethesda games release a big title such as The Elder Scrolls 6.
