Although it has been a year since the game’s launch, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare fans are still finding secrets within the multiplayer game mode. Although it easily could be an error, Modern Warfare fans have noticed attachments in certain game modes that do not appear anywhere else.
With the gunsmith system, players are able to create almost any weapon they can dream of. While some players use this power to create monstrous guns that should not exist, others carefully study each design in hopes of crafting the perfect weapon. When one Gunfight fan noticed an attachment in their match that is not available outside Gunfight, they immediately brought it to the attention of the game’s community.

The image provided by Reddit user FWshaun98 is blurry but gets the point across. There is a unique variant of the AK foregrip located in the game that is not available through Gunsmith. This attachment is, in the Redditor’s opinion, the “best looking one” and he finds it odd that it is not available in the game itself. He and other fans hope that the attachment will become available, as it compliments the mil-sim aesthetic that some fans love.
This is not the only time that a strange gun attachment or configuration has appeared in Gunfight. There have been past reports of a 9mm conversion for the RAM-7 making an appearance, and other strange attachments on weapons that are not normally provided as an option. Most of this comes from the randomization engine that Gunfight uses to determine a player’s starting loadout each match.
It is unknown if these are simply mistakes in Gunfight’s weapon system or if they are intentionally there. One possible reason for this occurrence is added, but officially unreleased, content. It could be that the AK grip was intended to be released, but the development team had other priorities resulting in delayed production.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has had bugs and glitches since launch, and this fact makes it hard to not write this appearance off as a simple bug. Fans remain hopeful that this new-found attachment will one day debut in the core game. Until then, players will have to hope on Gunfight’s randomization engine to award players a chance to use this stylish attachment for a round.
