Conker’s Bad Fur Day Great Mighty Poo Boss Softlocks on Xbox Series X; Rare Forwards Issue to “The Right People”

Conker's Bad Fur Day The Great Mighty Poo

The Xbox Series X is seemingly too powerful for Conker’s Bad Fur Day, causing The Great Mighty Poo boss fight to softlock.

MSPowerUser reports that the game, playable through Rare Replay on Xbox One, has issues thanks to the next-gen system loading too quickly. The boss fight in question features music and singing from the Great Mighty Poo, all designed to be in sequence with cutscenes and the boss’ attacks.

However, the scene loads so quickly it ends up out of sync. Sometimes the boss may even no longer attack, softlocking the game as he is no longer vulnerable to attacks. Specifically, the boss sings at certain points, allowing players to hurl toilet paper into his mouth. However, his idle animation plays in a loop, keeping his mouth closed.

This was cataloged by users on Twitch speedrunning the game [1, 2, 3]. It is likely those users skipped the cutscene (available after the game is completed once), though it is unsure if this causes part of the issue, or if those users had indeed skipped the cutscene.

One of the Twitch users shared the issue on Twitter, and tagged Rare in the thread. Rare later responded, stating “Thanks for this Arb, as well as the clips – we’re forwarding it to The Right People.”

The Rare Replay collection also features Jetpac, Lunar Jetman, Atic Atac, Sabre Wulf, Underwurlde, Knight Lore, Gunfright, Slalom, R.C. Pro-Am, Cobra Triangle, Snake Rattle ‘n’ Roll, Solar Jetman, Digger T. Rock, Battletoads (1991), R.C. Pro-Am II, Battletoads Arcade, Killer Instinct Gold, Blast Corps ,Banjo-Kazooie, Jet Force Gemini, and Perfect Dark (2010).

The comparatively more modern games in the collection include Banjo-Tooie, Grabbed by the Ghoulies, Kameo, Perfect Dark Zero, Viva Piñata, Jetpac Refuelled, Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise, and Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts.

Rare Replay is available on Xbox One, and playable on Xbox Series X via backwards compatibility.
