Crysis Remastered Releases Sep 18th As Epic Games Store Exclusive

Identity Crysis

Crysis Remastered finally has a release date. The updated version of 2007's FPS classic will land on PC and consoles on September 18th. It'll feature enhanced graphics and various other improvements and will be an Epic Games Store exclusive on PC.

What's new in Crysis Remastered?

The Crysis team shared news of the game's release date via Twitter. In the tweet, the team showed off some of the graphical enhancements featured in the remastered version. These include new lighting and assets, high-quality textures up to 8K, ray tracing, and more. The enhancements in Crysis Remastered seem to be mostly visual, but Crysis is renowned as an old-school PC baptism of fire, so that's perhaps to be expected.

This news comes after Crysis fans were displeased by the initial trailers of the game. In those trailers, many fans thought the updated visuals were barely an improvement on the originals and in some cases looked markedly worse. This appears to have caused one of a few delays to the game's release date; it was originally due to launch on July 23rd, but after negative fan reaction to the aforementioned visuals, was delayed on platforms other than Nintendo Switch. Originally, rumors suggested it might launch today, but this appears to have been proven incorrect. The Crysis team will no doubt be hoping that a glimpse of the new tech trailer will silence the naysayers on the graphical front.

Crysis Remastered will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Games Store on September 18th. It's also on Switch, and is already available for purchase via the Nintendo Switch eShop.

Dark Souls changed my life, and I'm here to spread the good news. I like pretty much all sorts of games, but I judge everything by its proximity to our Lord and saviour, Dark Souls.
